Germaphobe

Nearly everyone in my office has been sick lately.... I feel like it's just a matter of time before I contract the gambu.

I've been trying to keep my office door shut and have minimal contact with my coworkers, along with pretty much snorting EmergenC on an hourly basis, and they tease me about it. Hellooooo......why would they think I'd WANT that crap?

"Sure, come on in, lick my face!"

BAH!

Earth Fest

My pet project lately has been putting together Earth Fest in Brigham City.
Lori and I, as well as Jill from Utah State University Brigham City have been working to coordinate an event to promote recycling, composting, conservation and general earth awareness.

We've got several local businesses that are willing to come out and teach people about what they do to help the environment, and what people can do at home as well.

I'm so excited to see how this turns out. It will be the first event of its kind in our area. Conservation is a topic that I feel very strongly about, and I'm glad to be a part of such a great cause.

So join us on Earth Day, April 22 and learn about the great resources our community has to offer :)

Earth Fest
April 22, 4pm - 7 pm
USU Brigham City
195 W. 1100 S.
Brigham

The Beehive

If you live near Brigham, you need to try The Beehive!
They have two really great chicken pizzas that I love (and I hate chicken).

I'm all about supporting local businesses, and these guys are great.
We had Taylor's birthday party there last month and they bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were satisfied.
They have a huge area for parties and even an arcade with pool tables.

Support these guys!

Let the creativity flow

Erica and I are going to the Scrapbook Expo on Saturday. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!

We're taking a couple classes, then we'll probably wander around like excited little puppies in a sea of bones and chew toys... Or maybe just like scrapbookers in the world's largest scrapbook store.

It's fun to go do things with my sister and forget how crazy our lives are for a while and just hang out :)

St. Patrick's Day

I found the most obnoxious shamrock antennas for Erica and I this year!

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day by eating burgers at Mims,
then with green beer at the B&B.

Good food, friends and beer!

Broken rules...

Let's be clear that I'm not a picky person.
I do, however, have some simple life rules by which I follow.

Never trust a skinny cook.
Never trust a tattoo artist with no tattoos.
Never trust a hair dresser with sub-par hair.

I broke this last rule this morning.

I like to go to Wal-Mart to get hair cuts. I know a lot of girls would shriek at the thought of that, but I like NOT having to make an appointment, NOT having a relationship with a hairdresser, getting in, out, and on my way. ( oh, and only paying $14.95 ;)

I went to Wal-Mart this morning to get my hair cut. The only girl available was a 40-something-year old with (I swear to god) 6 inch bangs done in a single giant barrel roll. I do not need to describe her beyond this point.

The thought occurred to me that she thought MY hair was weird when she grabbed the short pieces of hair on top of my head and said "what happened here?" *sigh*
"They're my spikes...." lol

Anyway, the moral of the story is that she did my haircut, didn't screw it up, didn't feel the need to chat-chit about useless things and didn't try make friends for the 10 minutes I would be in there. Exactly what I want in a hair girl.

Maybe she likes her perfectly coiffed plethora of bangs? Maybe she thinks she looks great. I guess, in the end, that's all that matters, is that YOU think you look great.

Maybe I'll cross that last rule off my list?

The Green Machine

In a moment of insanity, I asked Erica if she'd talk to her boss at the B&B (our local bar) and see if she'd be willing to get her bartenders to save glass beer bottles every day, instead of throwing them away.
She agreed. Which made me really happy, and also made me realize what a lunatic I am. Honestly though, the thought of them throwing all those bottles away made me crazy!
Brigham City does have Cardboard, Paper, Plastic and Aluminum bins for recycling, but there are few places in Utah that support Glass Recycling.
The closest to Brigham City is Utah State University.
Me and Manuel made our first big trip with 'bar bottles' to Logan on Tuesday.

SIX HUNDRED FORTY EIGHT bottles!!!!
The 'Green Machine' (my Toyota) was fully loaded and ready to go!

Going to pick up bottles at the bar two or three
times a week, then taking them the be dumped
is a pretty big chore, but I feel good about it,
so that's all that matters, right?! :)

Spring in Utah

I woke up this morning to the familiar sound of snow plows. I thought, "wasn't it just last week I had a t-shirt on?" huh.

This caught my eye as I was getting out of my car... snow delicately stacked on top of my chain-link gate.

And my poor Crocus that bloomed last week :(

This is Manny's son, Brayden doing a snow belly flop in my front yard!
I think we've gotten about a foot today!!

Good news though, it's supposed to be 56 degrees next Wednesday!
